Lichtental

From Stadtwiki Baden-Baden

The Baden-Baden district Lichtental (former spelling Lichtenthal) is located southeast of the town center. Lichtental was independent at first and became part of Baden-Baden in 1909.

History[edit]

Originally the small settlement at the Oosbach was called Büren or also Beuren. After the foundation of the Monastery Lichtenthal the area began to gain in importance. Because of a privilege granted to the monastery the people from Beuern were allowed to offer their products on all markets of the margraviate of Baden.

In 1863 the parish Beuern was renamed to Lichtental. In 1909 Lichtental was incorporated into the town of Baden-Baden.
